Project Architect/Designer

About the Role:

The Project Architect/Designer should have experience in single family, custom residential architecture. The candidate should have an elevated attention to detail, love for drawing, problem solving, and an ability to assimilate inspiration into design and construction drawings. We will be interested in gaining an understanding of the candidate’s love for residential design and where they derive personal inspiration. The candidate must be comfortable operating in a collaborative team environment, eager to learn, and have a desire to grow in their professional skillset. Time management and excellent communication skills are imperative, as involvement in multiple projects at once is a given. Miller Architecture and Design Studio empowers all team members to take ownership of client relationships, so strong interpersonal skills are essential to this role.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Design and Construction Documentation: As Architects, each member of our team is expected to be highly proficient in the generation and development of design drawings and construction drawings. These activities comprise a large portion of the services we provide our clients and are the foundation of a successful firm and practitioner. This position will require a candidate with a love for drawing as our firm believes that beautiful drawings make for beautiful buildings.
• Leadership: Assist the lead designer and project manager in design presentations, the design and planning of projects from concept through entitlement, ensuring design integrity, technical quality and client satisfaction
• Client Engagement: Assist Project Manager in leading presentations and coordinating meetings
• Quality Control: Oversee project deliverables and ensure compliance with codes, regulations, and best practices

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Professional Degree in Architecture from an accredited college
• 3 or more years’ experience in residential architecture
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and care with client relationships
• Collaborative team player with the ability to lead, mentor and inspire others
• Highly organized, detail oriented, adaptable, proactive and capable of managing multiple projects
• Proficient understanding of construction drawings and detailing for projects
• Solid understanding of engineering trades, consultant coordination, budgets, entitlements and schedules as they relate to architectural design.
• Proficient in AutoCAD or ArchiCAD, Revit and SketchUp
